Participants will gather for five weekend immersions at The Westin Athletic Club with Morgan Kulas, where they will explore our Level 1 Teacher Training Curriculum. This foundational training weaves together the essential practices of Mindfulness, Vinyasa, Restorative Yoga, and Ayurveda into a cohesive, practical framework for both personal growth and the art of teaching Yoga. Each weekend unfolds through an elemental journey — Earth, Water, Fire, Air, and Ether — offering a progressive path of embodiment, insight, and integration.
-
Teachers in training will attend 20 classes at Studio Anjali and The Westin Athletic Club throughout May and June, submitting a brief reflection on each class as part of their training journey. Trainees are encouraged to explore a wide variety of class styles and teaching approaches in order to discover what resonates most deeply with them while learning from the skill, wisdom, and experience of teachers within our community.
-
Students are expected to be cultivating the garden of their home Sadhana during this training. Whether that is a daily Meditation, Asana, or Pranayama practice; we value and foster teachers who can share from direct experience. Trainees will also read & study three foundational texts: Yoga Body by Judith Lasater, The Bhagavad Gita translation by Eknath Easwaran, and Zen and the Art of Saving the Planet by Thich Nhat Hanh.
-
To receive certification, all students must complete a final practicum in the form of a 60-minute public class. Following the practicum, students will receive thoughtful feedback from a panel of experienced local teachers.
-
There have been massive ruptures of integrity in the field of Yogic practice and teaching due to the commodification of Yoga Teacher Training programs by Western practitioners. We do not believe that students are owed a Yoga Teacher Training certificate just because they pay a fee. All graduates must demonstrate an aptitude for and sincere commitment to teaching and leading in their communities. American Yoga Council has developed a new framework for Teacher Trainings that aligns with these values. Which is to say, we reserve the right not to certify students who do not fulfill all requirements. Morgan Kulas is not a business or a brand, she is an artist and a person and her body of work is designed with dignity and respect. While trainees are eligible for their 200HR certificate with Yoga Alliance our program aligns more with the values of American Yoga Council.
