Body Poetry Space

Embodied Acts of Repair & Resilience

Elemental to my teaching practice is the belief that all life is interconnected and healing is a process of restoring trust in the body. Through acceptance of self and circumstances, the dark and the light, the trauma and the creativity; we remember our true nature as nature. As Nkem Ndefo describes; to heal is to flower towards an alchemical resilience. To learn how to exist within an ocean rather than build a bridge over a river. Through this work you will learn to de-influence yourself from the systems and stories of control that have separated you from your body and from nature. Together, we will build somatic resources, understand the impact of trauma on our bodies, release stress through movement, and integrate new understandings of ourselves into our lives and relationships.

Weekly Classes

Body Poetry is an Artist's Project, not a Dance or Yoga studio. So please be aware that we do not accept last minute drop-ins. All students must register for their class of choice a minimum of one hour before it begins. Living in a small town means there are days where nobody comes to class. This is no big deal. It is the nature of our location. That said, if nobody registers for class, Morgan will remove the class from the schedule one hour before it begins out of respect for her time and resources.

Much love, and thank you for your consideration.

  • Sift stands for Somatic Intelligence of Trauma, and the practice is the culmination and articulation of my process as a dance artist and choreographer working in ecological and healing-centered pedagogy and praxis. It is a poetic approach to somatic potential and phenoma that fosters wellbeing and connection through guided dance improvisation. I teach Sift as a catalyst for transformation and collective resilience. All bodies and limitations are welcome in this class. That said an open heart and mind is required.

  • Deep Practice is a protected community of highly sensitive Yoga practitioners dedicated to integrating advanced Yogic Psychology, Systems Thinking, Neuroscience, and Deep Ecology into their embodiment. Together, we explore how thoughts and behaviors move through networks - building more resilient, relational, and emergent ways of engaging with self, others, and the natural world. Guided and fostered by Morgan Kulas, our gatherings blend Asana, Pranayama, and Meditation with complex group inquiry and exploration into Yoga as a path of cycle breaking, radical responsibility, and ultimately - Fierce Love.

  • Floor Time is an all levels contemporary dance floorwork practice. We begin with a full body warm up to nourish and prepare our tissues, then transition into progressions and technique across the floor. Each class ends with a short piece of choreography where we will integrate themes introduced through the previous waves of class. No dance experience is necessary. knee pads are encouraged.

  • In Contemporary Ballet Barre we will embody the elegance and precision of classical ballet while integrating the fluidity and creativity of contemporary movement. Whether you are a seasoned dancer or a complete beginner, this class offers a supportive environment for practicing ballet technique, musicality, and self-expression. Ballet is an incredible vocabulary for cultivating strength, flexibility, balance, and self-awareness. Modifications are offered to suit all skill levels, ensuring an engaging experience for everyone. Come as you are!

Testimonials

  • “I have loved attending Morgan’s Sifting: Conscious Dance classes. I have been a Yoga and Dance student of Morgan’s for more than 10 years. I have always appreciated her intelligent, intentional, and caring approach to teaching. She always finds a thoughtful balance in her instruction where movement is simultaneously guided, fresh, improvisational, and liberating. I love her choice of music and her informed cues. I feel very present and focused, yet relaxed during class. A lovely sense of trust and acceptance is shared by the multi-age students.”

  • "You were a guiding light for my budding practice and a nurturing influence for my seeking soul and mind. You made me look at myself and helped me have a greater appreciation of who I am. In my time with you I've learned to forgive myself along with others. I've become aware of enjoying 'this moment' and how to savor it without looking to the past or future as being better. Thank you isn't a big enough word for all you've done for me."

  • "Undoubtedly, both yoga and art seek to translate the intangible into the tangible and Morgan’s ability to successfully meet this challenge is revealed through her teaching. As a teacher, her offerings are a transmission, reflecting her inner work, that become an accessible and safe entry point for students to explore and experience the intangible and dually to engage in a method of Self-discovery. Embodying both strength and nurturance, Morgan communicates from a place of skill, depth and presence. Her passion to serve others is very clear along with her willingness to step into the unknown in order to do so."
